To counter Nvidia’s GeForce GTX 560 and Ti 448 cores, AMD, the company is preparing a “light” version of its graphics cards based on the Cayman GPU (Radeon HD 6950 and 6970). The Radeon HD 6930 would be equipped with a chipset Cayman EC and is very close to a Radeon HD 6950 at the PCB and the proposed connection.
The GPU then embark 1280 stream processors, 80 texture units, 32 ROP units and 1 or 2 GB of GDDR5 memory on 256-bit bus, the frequencies are 750 MHz for the GPU and 1200 MHz for memory.
All this is obviously still to be confirmed by AMD, but we already know that the price could range between 170 and 200 euros for availability in mid-December.
