Intel Acquires InfiniBand for $125 Million

Intel announces the acquisition of InfiniBand, a division of QLogic going to expand the portfolio of the company in the network of high-performance computing. Infiniband is a company specialized in the “links” of data flow between processors and I/O devices in high-performance computing and data centers.

This operation, which will be completed within the next month, was made by Intel in a vision of the project that the manufacturer intends to achieve by 2018. To be clear, although many readers will know, a system (or systems) that is able to generate exaflop / s would be a hundred times higher than the most powerful super computers now available.
